I love poker, especially the Texas Hold ‘em variety. I’ve been playing the game for about five years, and yes, I can’t get enough of it. I play with friends mostly—no wait, that’s not very accurate; I have played with the same five friends twice a month in the last five years! I know them so well that I can play against them blindfolded and still emerge the eventual victor. I have gotten bored; I want more competition, but I’m too chicken and frugal to go to a casino.
Just last week, I decided to give online poker a try. Well, I haven’t actually played a hand in any online room yet; I’m still in the process of finding out how different the game is from the traditional kind. I was not surprised when I found out that online play is indeed very different from the live variety; for one, it’s pretty obvious that the tells that one bases decisions on in face-to-face games is absent in online games. That’s why reliance on poker odds is heavier in online poker. The problem is that I’m not really very good in math: I have the worst luck with numbers.
Fortunately, I have recently discovered a new online poker tool called the poker calculator. This cool gadget automatically computes for odds and other useful statistics about the game. The great thing is, IT”S FREE! I can’t wait to play my first online hand with it. Check it out! Download Poker Calculator
