At lunch today, I was informed colleagues in the office of the untimely death of a good friend and officemate. He was assigned to lead a mission to Zimbabwe. He wasn’t even able to start-off his mission since the plane that he was traveling on crashed just before touchdown at Harare Airport. There are no findings yet but we hear that the crash was caused by an engine problem which is clearly an unforgivable oversight on the part of the carrier. And it’s unfortunate, that their lapse had to cause the death of a good person. Before his untimely death, he continuously strove to improve himself and always went the extra mile to help others. We will miss him and always remember him as someone who epitomized integrity and professionalism. As we paid him our final respects, we mourn for the loss of such a hardworking, reliable, energetic, open-minded and fun to be with fellow. Had we known that the airline would be careless to check on the engine, we would have thought of sending him by a Private jet charter. We know that Jet charter values the safety and security of it passengers as much as it takes care of its good name. We thought to ourselves that the next time we have to send somebody off, we would get Private jets because we strongly believe that going on mission trips should not pose a risk of losing another good colleague.
